Year 2 had a lot of fun visiting and learning about the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade which is one of the oldest museums in the Balkans. It was established in February of 1901 and recently celebrated its hundredth anniversary. The museum is somewhat of a “guardian” of national culture.

Today, the museum preserves a large number of ethnographic items such as household items, cult objects, jewelry, folk costumes, etc. It has one of the richest specialized libraries in the Balkans.

In the pictures you will notice manikins wearing various national clothes made of different fabrics.
The students learned that the different costumes tell us about different marital status.

The students also got to experience and view a room from a house made of stone as well as come close to a transportation sledge from the first half of the 20th century.
