Chartwell secondary students had a movie night on Monday April 1st. They went to Usce Cineplexx cinema to watch the Oscar winning film The Green Book.

It is a moving and inspiring film about Don Shirley, a world-class African-American pianist, who is about to embark on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962, and his driver Tony Lip, from an Italian-American neighbourhood in the Bronx. Despite their differences, the two men soon develop an unexpected bond while confronting racism and danger in an era of segregation. Our students have been learning about racism in modern history and how to recognize racism in the contemporary society and this film was an additional source to continue essential discussions about this important topic.
