Caring for animals teaches us kindness and compassion. Upper primary students reminded us of this with great initiative to help the abandoned animals.
The initiative came from our student. Iva met a stray dog. The dog was hurt and hungry, and had no one to care of it. She was able to help and it made her think of all the other animals that were abandoned. She wanted to do more. With the school staff’s help, she organized her peers and invited them to bring dog food and other necessities to be donated to the dog rescue shelter.
On Wednesday 10th April, we invited a representative from the dog rescue organization "Zoi" to come to school and collect the donation. Our guest had a nice talk with students, introduced the organization and the work they did and increased children's awareness of the responsibilities that came with owning a pet and what a good and safe way was to help an animal in need.
