This spring, Y1b students learned about the process of growth and development from a seed to a plant. We discussed what germination meant, how deep to plant each seed and how much water we should give them.
Next, we began an experiment to explore what a plant needs to survive. We created greenhouses for our bean seeds. We put them on the classroom window and make sure it has everything plant needs: sunlight and water. One greenhouse was in the classroom cabinet, without sunlight and water. Students created Plant journal and wrote their observations daily. Furthermore, we tucked the seeds into the soil and took great care by watering them daily, waiting for them to grow. Finally, with the first sign of green popped through the soil, the biggest smile erupted from student’s faces.
