In the spirit of Health and Hygiene Week, Year 3 students did a number of workshops to show the importance of washing hands with soap.
In one workshop we used three pieces of bread and touched them wearing sanitary gloves, dirty hands, and finally, clean hands. We put the pieces in three separate zip-lock bags, labelled, 'control', 'dirty hands' and 'clean hands'. Now we’ll wait to see which piece will get moldy first!
In the other workshop, we simply added water and pepper to a shallow plate and prepared our hand wash. We dipped our fingers in the water with the pepper and watched as the pepper (representing germs), stuck to our fingers! Then we put a drop of hand wash on the fingers and tried it again – like magic – the pepper disappeared!
