Pupils from Chartwell Upper Primary enjoyed an unforgettable educational trip to Viminacium, one of Serbia’s most important archaeological sites, on Thursday, October 16.

The day was filled with exploration and discovery as students walked through the ancient Roman city, which once stood as a major military and trade centre of the Roman Empire. Guided by expert tour leaders, the children learned about Roman architecture, saw real excavated ruins, and even a replica of a Roman mausoleum and amphitheatre.

Highlights of the trip included visiting the Roman villa, entering an underground tunnel the Romans built and hearing stories about Roman soldiers who once lived there. Pupils were particularly fascinated by the uncovered skeletons of Roman citizens and the chance to witness ongoing archaeological work in real time.

The school thanks the staff at Viminacium for their warm welcome and engaging presentations, and we look forward to more enriching educational experiences like this in the future.
