Celebrating World Theatre Day at Chartwell International School is about far more than taking a break from routine — it is a celebration of how the performing arts shape a child’s growth and development.
Today, our 4B students weren’t just ‘putting on a play’ — they were participating in a centuries-old tradition that fosters cultural exchange, empathy, and social dialogue.
For the occasion, Ms Jovana’s classroom transformed into a vibrant puppet theatre for the debut of The Great Spring Garden. Using only everyday classroom materials and stationery, students discovered how simple tools can be reimagined to build entirely new worlds. This hands-on creativity nurtures independence, problem-solving, and a strong sense of accomplishment.
The performance itself embraced theatrical improvisation, with no script to guide them. Students took on the roles of actors, directors, and composers, creating the story in real time. This spontaneity is where the true magic of drama in education shines: it encourages active listening, quick thinking, and seamless collaboration.
By weaving creativity into the curriculum, our students gain more than entertainment — they build life skills that last, including emotional intelligence, confidence in public speaking, and innovative thinking.
