Year 12 Psychology students have been actively engaging with Simon Baron-Cohen’s influential study, "The Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test," as part of their curriculum.

The study, which investigates theory of mind and its implications in understanding autism spectrum conditions, has provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect directly with real-world psychological research.

As part of their learning, students have participated in the Eyes Test themselves, using the original procedure and glossary to deepen their understanding of the material. This hands-on experience has allowed them to explore how researchers measure cognitive empathy and interpret subtle emotional cues—core components of the study.

By immersing themselves in this landmark research, students are not only building critical analytical skills but also gaining greater insight into the psychological methodologies used to study human behaviour and neurodiversity.
