One day the F1 children discovered the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle, and goodness me, did it turn out to be a fountain of knowledge & inspiration! Most of all, however, it was an opportunity for learning through fun!
As we dug deeper into the story we kept discovering layers of learning……days of the week, sequencing skills, size, order of numbers, naming foods, the life cycle of the butterfly etc.
At the same time, we honed our story telling skills and as usual we had lots of fun.
All along our creativity was buzzing, and so, we made soft pom pom caterpillars on a chalk coloured leaf and then we painted beautiful symmetrical butterflies.
Well done little ones!
