Last Thursday, Upper Primary took a field trip to the Tašmajdan Stadium ice skating rink. A fairly long-standing tradition at Upper Primary, Year 5 and Year 6 took to the ice skating rink later that morning.
According to some, the rink has achieved an almost legendary status among those who grew up in Belgrade. Curiously, the ice rink is purported to rest above secret passageways sealed after WW2.
That crisp morning, the ice skating rink lured both teacher and student alike. Students (and teachers) of all levels of experience took to the ice. It was a truly refreshing experience which I believe, everyone found liberating.
Whether gliding through the rink, clutching for dear life on the rails, or perfecting the perfect stance to achieve “maximum speed” (as one Year 5 student put it) the Tašmjadan ice skating rink had something to offer for everyone.
As much as I relish a good book and some quiet, I for one am eager for our next visit.
