Throughout the year, students learn various writing techniques, including figurative language. These will facilitate sentence variety and add to the students' creative flair.
In communication figurative language is used to persuade, compare and convey complex descriptions and emotions quickly and effectively, in a unique way.
The photos show students learning one such technique- alliteration, which involves using clusters of words with the same first sound for a humorous or pleasing effect when read aloud.
While doing the worksheet, students were encouraged to use a dictionary or thesaurus to find words with the appropriate first sound, whilst also expanding their vocabulary.
