It was Health and Hygiene Week at Chartwell International School, and 3F students performed an experiment to see what really happens to food when we touch it with unwashed hands.

We rubbed one slice of bread with unwashed hands and sealed it in a bag. Then we washed our hands thoroughly, rubbed another slice, and sealed it in a different bag. We also left one slice untouched as a control.

Now we observe! After a few days, the bread touched with dirty hands started to grow a lot of mold, while the bread touched with clean hands had little or no mold. The untouched slice stayed fresh the longest.

This simple experiment showed how washing our hands removes germs — and why it's so important to do it regularly.

Remember: always wash your hands!
