Chartwell Primary School is structured in line with the UK educational system. The table on the right outlines the ages of students in the Primary School.
Chartwell delivers the Cambridge Primary Curriculum, typically designed for 5-11 year olds, providing a curriculum framework to develop English, Mathematics, and Science skills, knowledge and understanding in younger learners. Cambridge Primary supports guidance for curriculum development and classroom teaching and learning. It enables teachers to assess children's learning as they progress with two optional assessments: Cambridge Primary Progression Tests and Cambridge Primary Checkpoint. The curriculum frameworks for English also include an English as a second language module.
The curriculum is well adapted and flexible to suit the international dimension of the School, which is why all subjects are taught in English. The curriculum seeks to strike the right balance between the search for meaning and understanding, and the acquisition of social, emotional and behavioural skills. Therefore, the subject allocation is adjusted depending on the Class Teacher’s and/or Academic Programme Coordinator’s appraisal of the needs of the class.
The table below indicates the subject allocations in Primary School.
